Thomas HB Browne

Thomas Henry Bayly Browne (born February 8, 1844 in Accomac , Accomack County , Virginia , †  August 27, 1892 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1887 and 1891 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Browne initially enjoyed a private school education and then attended the Hanover Academy and the Bloomfield Academy in Virginia. During the Civil War he served in various units in the Confederation Army between 1861 and 1865 . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his admission to the bar in 1868, he began to work in Accomac in this profession. In 1873 he became a district attorney in Accomack County. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1886 Browne was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded Thomas Croxton on March 4, 1887 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1891 . In 1890 he was defeated by the Democrat William Atkinson Jones .

After his time in the US House of Representatives ended, Browne practiced law again. He died on August 27, 1892 in his hometown of Accomac.
