Aston Donald McEachin (born October 10, 1961 in Nuremberg , Germany ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Donald McEachin attended St. Christopher's School in Richmond . Until 1982 he studied political science at the American University . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Virginia and his admission to the bar in 1986, he began to work in this profession. In 2008 he also graduated from Virginia Union University with a degree in theology with a Master of Divinity . Professionally, however, he continued to work as a lawyer. In his home country he is a member of numerous organizations and associations.

Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In August 1996 he took part as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago , at which President Bill Clinton was nominated for re-election. Between 1996 and 2002 and again from 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives . He sat on the State Senate from 2008 until he took office as a congressman . In 2001, McEachin ran unsuccessfully for his state's Attorney General . He is married and has three grown-up children. He lives in Henrico County .

In the congressional elections of 2016 McEachin was the fourth constituency of Virginia against Republican candidate Mike Wade in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeded Republican on January 3, 2017 Randy Forbes took.
