Walter Allen Watson

Walter Allen Watson (born November 25, 1867 in Nottoway County , Virginia , †  December 24, 1919 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1919 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Walter Watson attended the public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his admission to the bar in 1893, he began to work in this profession in his home country. From 1895 to 1904 he was a public prosecutor. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1891 and 1895 he was a member of the Virginia Senate . In 1901 and 1902 Watson was a member of his party's state board. From 1904 to 1912 he served as a judge in the fourth judicial district of Virginia.

In the 1912 congressional election , Watson was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the fourth constituency of his state, where he succeeded Robert Turnbull on March 4, 1913 . After three re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on December 24, 1919 . During this time the First World War fell . Walter Watson was buried in the family cemetery on the Woodland Estate in Nottoway County.
