John Love (politician)

John Love († August 17, 1822 in Alexandria , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1807 and 1811 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Neither the date of birth nor the place of birth of John Love are recorded. He received a good education. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1801, he began to work in this profession in Alexandria. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party . From 1805 to 1807 he was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives .

In the congressional election of 1806 Love was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded Philip R. Thompson on March 4, 1807 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1811 . From 1809 he was chairman of the District of Columbia Administration Committee . After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Love practiced as a lawyer again. From 1816 to 1820 he was a member of the Virginia Senate . He died in Alexandria on August 17, 1822.
