Robert Taylor (politician)

Robert Taylor (born April 29, 1763 in Orange , Orange County , Colony of Virginia , †  July 3, 1845 in Orange County, Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1825 and 1827 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Taylor attended public schools in his home country. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1783, he began to work in this profession in Orange. In his homeland he also held a number of local offices. He also managed a large plantation. Between 1804 and 1815 he was a member and temporarily President of the Virginia Senate . In the 1820s he joined the movement around President John Quincy Adams .

In the congressional election of 1824 Taylor was elected in the eleventh constituency of Virginia to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Philip Pendleton Barbour on March 4, 1825 . Since he refused to run again in 1826, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1827 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Taylor returned to his Meadow Farm in Orange County, where he died on July 3, 1845.
