Thomas Lewis junior

Thomas Lewis Jr. (* in Augusta County , Virginia ) was an American politician . In 1803 and 1804 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The sources on Thomas Lewis are not very productive. The exact dates of his life are not known; Nor is much known about Lewis' youth and schooling. All that is mentioned is that he attended public schools. In the late 1790s he joined the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton .

In the 1802 congressional elections , Lewis was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded John Johns Trigg , who moved to the 13th district, on March 4, 1803 . The election was challenged by his opponent Andrew Moore . When this objection was granted, Lewis had to cede his mandate on March 5, 1804 to Moore. After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, the trail of Thomas Lewis is lost again.
