Edward B. Jackson

Edward Brake Jackson (born January 25, 1793 in Clarksburg , Virginia , †  September 8, 1826 in Bedford , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1820 and 1823 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Born in what is now West Virginia , Edward Jackson came from a well-known family of politicians: He was the son of George Jackson (1757-1831) and brother of John George Jackson (1777-1825), both of whom were also Congressmen. He attended the Randolph Academy in Clarksburg and then studied medicine. After his admission as a doctor, he began practicing this profession in Clarksburg. During the British-American War of 1812 he was a military doctor. After the war he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic-Republican Party . Between 1815 and 1818 he was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives .

After the resignation of MP James Pindall , Jackson was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on October 23, 1820, when the by-election was due for the first Virginia seat . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1823 . In 1822 he renounced another candidacy. After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Edward Jackson no longer appeared politically. He died on September 8, 1826 near Bedford, Pennsylvania.
