Thomas Wilson (born September 11, 1765 in Staunton , Colony of Virginia , † January 24, 1826 in Morgantown , Virginia ) was an American politician .

Wilson studied law at Staunton and was admitted to the bar on September 21, 1789. He practiced as a lawyer in Morgantown, what is now West Virginia . From 1792 to 1795 he was a senator in the Virginia Senate . He was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives from 1799 to 1800. He then sat again in the Virginia Senate from 1800 to 1804.

Wilson was elected as a federalist in the 12th Congress and represented there from March 4, 1811 to March 3, 1813 the state of Virginia in the House of Representatives of the United States . In 1816 and 1817 he was again a member of the Virginia House of Representatives. Wilson then began practicing law again. He died in Morgantown in 1826 and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery .

His son Edgar Campbell Wilson and grandson Eugene McLanahan Wilson were also MPs in the United States House of Representatives.
