William McKinley (politician, before 1798)

William McKinley (born before 1798 in Virginia ; died after 1826) was an American politician . In 1810 and 1811 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William McKinley's exact dates of life are not known. He was born in the 18th century and died after 1826. McKinley attended elementary school and later embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson in Virginia. Between 1798 and 1804 and again in 1806 and 1807 he represented Ohio County in what is now West Virginia in the Virginia House of Representatives .

After the resignation of MP John George Jackson , who had to recover from a duel wound, McKinley was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the due by-election for the first Virginia seat , where he was elected on December 2, 1810 took up his new mandate. But he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1811 . In the years 1820 and 1821 and again from 1824 to 1826 McKinley was again a member of the state parliament. After that his track is lost.
