The chapel

The Roman Catholic Magdalenen Chapel is somewhat hidden in the forest in the district of Kirchgandern in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

The original chapel at this location was in the middle of the GDR border area . It was therefore unavailable and left to decay.

After the fall of the Wall , the faithful from Kirchgandern and the surrounding area organized the reconstruction in 1991 on the foundations of the predecessor. On December 22, 1991 the newly built chapel was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Hans-Reinhard Koch ; On July 28, 1996, the rebuilt Way of the Cross, which leads from the village to the chapel, was inaugurated.

A festive service was held on July 26, 2011 on Magdalen's Day of this date.
