description

The Park Pond (2016)

The Maurer Rathauspark is located directly in front of the former town hall of Mauer next to the Maurer parish church of Sankt Erhard near the Maurer main square. It is bordered by Speisinger Strasse, Endresstrasse, Kanitzgasse and Fischergasse. The park is 14,000 m². In 2003 the park was redesigned and the park pond renatured. Today there is this park pond in the park, a children's playground with a football and basketball court , a drinking fountain and the Magna-Mater ornamental fountain (see below) as well as various walking paths that are laid out in overlapping loops and seating. There is a public toilet on the edge of the park. The Dr. Adolf Lorenz School, the Rudolf Steiner School , the Karl Schubert School and the Mauer Adult Education Center are located around the park .

Magna Mater Fountain

The Magna Mater Fountain (2012)

The Magna Mater Fountain was built in 1930 based on a design by the architect Adolf Stöckl and was then located in Vienna's 9th district, Alsergrund , at Lustkandlgasse 50, on the corner of Ayrenhoffgasse, at the municipal child transfer point established there. In the course of the restoration of today's Julius Tandler Family Center , which took place from 1962 to 1965 , the fountain was moved to its current location in Mauer.

The fountain is a shallow octagonal basin with four twisted metal snakes as gargoyles that spew from the outside in. The Magna Mater ( Great Mother ) made of Lasa marble with four children stands in the middle on a square base . The sculpture was made by Anton Hanak in 1926 . The fountain is looked after by Municipal Department 31 (Wiener Wasser).
