The Magnetic Hill Zoo ( French Zoo de Magnetic Hill , formerly Magnetic Hill Game Farm ) is a zoo in Moncton , New Brunswick ( Canada ) that was founded in 1953. Since 1993 he has been a member of Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA).
history
It was founded in 1953 as Magnetic Hill Game Farm in order to be able to accommodate indigenous animal species in the event of injury or orphanage .
When it was taken over by the city of Moncton and renamed Magnetic Hill Zoo in 1979, the settlement of endemic and exotic species began .
Support association
The creation of done to secure and expand the financing 1,989 development association Friends of the Zoo (dt. Friends of the Zoo ) by three people, Shirley Dingley, Deborah Fisher and Bruce Dougan. Fisher later became the director of the zoo.
In 1992 the association decided to create an educational program that received two awards by 2015 and, in addition to courses for self-study, also includes classrooms for training.
Awards
For the Ecodome : (about Ökohalle ) the CAZA gave the Magnetic Hill Zoo in 2003 the Environmental Enrichment Award (dt. Three more awards followed in 2011:

The Eleanore Oakes Award was given again in 2003, then for the “Keeper Camp”, an educational offer for young people.
In 2008 the zoo was voted the fourth best zoo in Canada.
The zoo's logo took third place in a competition between 3200 participants.
