Mahdia is a community in Potaro-Siparuni , Guyana . There are gold and diamond deposits in the village . Mahdia has about 500 residents from three different groups, Patanoma Indians, immigrants from St. Lucia and Dominica, and Guyans from other regions of Guyana. Mahdia is the regional administrative center of the region. There is a police station , several schools and two hotels in the village . The place is also supplied several times a week by several truck lines from Bartica , Linden , Mabura and Georgetown . A well is no longer in operation, the residents use rainwater to supply water. Mahdia has a landing pad (identification MHA).
