The Mahood River is a right tributary of the Clearwater River in the eastern Canadian province of British Columbia . The river has been named after the surveyor James Adams Mahood († 1901) since December 6, 1941.

River course

The Mahood River forms the 5.7 km long drain of Mahood Lake . He leaves the lake at its eastern end. The Mahood River overcomes the waterfalls Sylvia Falls ( 20 m high, 90 m wide) and Goodwin Falls ( 10 m high, 60 m wide) on its short stretch of river in a predominantly easterly direction . The river lies to the southwest of Wells Gray Provincial Park . Its catchment area includes the south of the Quesnel Highlands , which borders the Cariboo Mountains to the east . Larger lakes in the catchment area are Mahood Lake and Canim Lake .

Hydrology

The Mahood River drains an area of ​​4710 km². The mean discharge is 35 m³ / s. The river usually carries the largest amounts of water in the months of May and June.
