The Clearwater River ( English for "clear water river") is a right tributary of the North Thompson River in the Canadian province of British Columbia .

The river runs entirely within Wells Gray Provincial Park with the exception of the last 5 kilometers .

The Clearwater River rises on the northeast flank of Mount Goodall in the Cariboo Mountains . It flows around the mountain to the north and then turns south. The Clearwater River flows through Hobson Lake , later takes on the Azure River from the left and then flows through Clearwater Lake . Later the Clearwater River takes the Murtle River from the left and the Mahood River from the right and finally reaches the North Thompson River flowing west at Clearwater . At the mouth of the river lies the small North Thompson River Provincial Park . The Clearwater River has a length of approximately 160 km.

Hydrology

The Clearwater River drains an area of ​​10,300 km². The mean discharge is 225 m³ / s. In the period from May to July, the river carries the largest amounts of water.
