Maibier's Parmäne is an old Saxon regional variety that was widespread in Saxony until the middle of the 20th century and is rarely found. The Saxon regional group of the Pomologists Association declared the apple variety to be "Saxon fruit variety 2018" .
history
Maibier's Parmäne was found in a private garden in Moritzburg near Dresden before 1860. A brother-in-law of the garden owner, the Dresden commercial gardener Maibier, recognized the value of the apple, first made it known and made it popular. The first description of the apple variety 'Maibiers Parmäne' was in 1861 by the Saxon pomologist Gustav von Flotow . Further descriptions by the pomologists Wilhelm Lauche and Friedrich Engelbrecht increased the level of awareness of the Parmäne. However, the cultivation in Saxony, especially in the Dresden area, was limited.
