Maik Reichel

Maik Reichel (born September 30, 1971 in Weißenfels ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and director of the state center for political education Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

After high school in 1990 at an Extended Secondary School made Reichel the civil service , and then in 1991 began studying history and art history at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg , which he in 1996 as a Master of Arts finished. From 1997 to 1998 he was a doctoral student at the Technical University of Chemnitz until he moved to the Museum im Schloss and the Gustav-Adolf-Gedenkstätte Lützen in 1999 as a research assistant and museum director .

From January 2010 to May 2013 Maik Reichel was procurator (board member) of the Schulpforta Foundation, which is the sponsor of the Pforta State School . In 2006 he initiated the battlefield archaeological investigations in Lützen and has been accompanying them ever since. This resulted in a special exhibition in the museum in Lützen Castle in 2012. As of September 1, 2012, he was to relocate his professional activities to Magdeburg as the newly appointed head of the state center for political education. Since an unsuccessful applicant appealed, the position remained vacant for the time being. On May 1, 2013 Maik Reichel took up the post of director of the State Center for Civic Education Saxony-Anhalt.

Maik Reichel is married and has three sons.

Party and MP

Reichel has been a member of the SPD since 1995 and was a member of the board of the SPD district association Burgenlandkreis until September 2012 .

From 1995 to 2007 Reichel belonged to the district council of the Weißenfels district and was its chairman from 1999. From July 2007 to May 2013 he was a member of the district council of the newly formed Burgenlandkreis.

From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Maik Reichel moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Burgenland constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election he received 31.6% of the first votes .

Reichel failed in the Bundestag election 2009 on September 27th in the Bundestag constituency Burgenland - Saalekreis (constituency 74) in the fight for the direct mandate with 18.9% of the first votes and left the Bundestag.

Public offices

From 2001 to January 17, 2011 Reichel was honorary mayor of the city of Lützen. From February 2010 to May 2013 he was also chairman of the SPD / Disabled Association district parliamentary group in the Burgenland district. From April 2012 to April 2013 Reichel was a member of the board of the Museum Association of the State of Saxony-Anhalt.
