Mala Ghedia

Mala Ghedia , actually Mumta Premji Ghedia (born January 18, 1976 in Leeton , New South Wales ) is an Australian actress and voice actress with Indian roots.

Career

At the age of 16, Ghedia took part in an open casting for the Australian soap opera Home and Away , and qualified out of 2000 for the role of Monique . She then studied at the University of Sydney , where she graduated with a Bachelor in Communication. She then moved to England and was trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London .

In addition to her native English , she speaks German , Gujarati , Hindi (basic knowledge), as dialects and accents, she also speaks Australian (innate), American, British and Indian.

In the US sitcom The Big Bang Theory , she is the German dubbing voice of Raj's sister Priya.

She gives lessons in drama and Bollywood dance at schools in Berlin and teaches children's drama in English at her own school, Malas Playhouse .

In 2010 she played the leading female role of Naina at the side of Wim Wenders in "Snowblind", the first German complete green screen film production.

Private

Ghedia is the fourth of six children born to Indian parents. Her father is a country doctor, her mother initially worked as an office assistant, later as a teacher. The role as a doctor in the series Jindabyne - Somewhere in Australia is loosely based on her father's biography. She has lived in Berlin since July 2007 .
