Malcolm Spence (athlete, 1937)
Malcolm Spence ( Malcolm Clive Spence ; born September 4, 1937 in Johannesburg , † December 30, 2010 in Howick ) was a South African sprinter .
At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he was sixth over 400 m . In 1958 he won silver over 440 yards and gold with the South African team in the 4-by-440-yard relay at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff .
He celebrated his greatest success at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome by winning the bronze medal over 400 m. Its time of 45.5 s remained a national record until 1983. In the 4 x 400 meter relay , he came fourth with the South African team.
