Malignant Eternal ( . English , eternal evil ') is a Norwegian metal band from Bergen , the first black metal played, but later increasingly Ambient - and trip-hop elements absorbed in their music.
history
The band was founded in 1991 by T. Reaper and Brynjulv Guddal. After a promo recording in 1995, the band recorded their first album Tårnet in Shagrath's Hot Records studio, the album was very well received in the underground black metal scene. After the recordings, bassist Kenneth Korsvold left the band.
The second album, Far Beneath the Sun , partly backed by ambient music , was released in 1997 by Napalm Records , with newcomer Tom Stien as guitarist . In 1998 T. Reaper was briefly bassist for Gorgoroth . In the same year an EP called 20th Century Beast was recorded, shortly afterwards Arve Isdal was accepted by Enslaved and Ov Hell as guitarist in the band.
In 1999 the band's third and final album was recorded. It bears the title Alarm and is heavily interspersed with electronica elements, especially trip-hop rhythms. A tour followed in 2001 and 2003, after which the band broke up.
