Malte Buhring

Malte Bühring (born January 8, 1939 in Münster ; † September 18, 2014 ) was a German internist and the first full professor of naturopathy in Germany after the Second World War .

Life

Malte Bühring studied human medicine and was awarded a doctorate in 1966 with a thesis on surgery of the flexor tendons on the hand. med. PhD. Under Gunther Hildebrandt he worked in Marburg for rehabilitation , from 1972 with Karl Pirlet in Frankfurt. There he completed his habilitation in 1981 with a thesis on hyperthermia and completed further training as a specialist in internal medicine in 1985. In the following year he took over the acting department head with the retirement of professor Pirlet. From 1987 to 1989 he was President of the German Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

After the application for the chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation in Vienna had been unsuccessful, Bühring was appointed to the nationwide first chair for naturopathy at the Free University of Berlin shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall . In addition, he later acted as head physician in internal medicine at the Moabit Hospital . In 2003 he retired.

Bühring mainly dealt scientifically with the classical naturopathic methods, the light in prevention and therapy formed a special focus. He researched natural and artificial UV radiation as a physiological regulator of the vitamin D balance for the indications hypertension and terminal kidney failure . In addition, he dealt u. a. with hydrotherapy and balneology as well as with respiratory therapy for bronchial asthma .
