Fritz Kemper

Fritz Hubertus Kemper (born February 9, 1927 in Cologne ; † March 28, 2017 ) was a German internist, pharmacologist and toxicologist.

Life

Fritz Kemper studied medicine at the University of Cologne and the University of Bonn . After the state examination and doctorate in Cologne in 1950, Kemper continued his clinical training in Lüdenscheid and from 1952 in Frankfurt am Main . In Frankfurt he dealt with scientific work in the field of circulatory and high pressure research and endocrinology . After completing his specialist training in internal medicine in 1956, Kemper went to the University of Münster at the Pharmacological Institute of Arnold Loeser at the end of the 1950s . His work in the field of the pharmacological effects of medicinal plants and their ingredients led to his habilitation in 1958. In the same year he was recognized as a specialist in “Pharmacology and Toxicology” and “Clinical Pharmacology”. In 1964 he became an adjunct professor and from 1965 scientific councilor and professor at the University of Münster. In 1969 he was appointed to the chair for pharmacology and toxicology and in 1970 took over the management of the institute. He was Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster in 1970 and 1971. Kemper was President of the Medical Faculty Conference from 1985 to 1997 . In the 49/2005 issue, Der Spiegel reported on payments by the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for reports on the activities of German scientists and politicians on the subject of tobacco consumption and health.

He was a founding member of the Ethics Commission and for more than two decades chaired the state examination in medicine and the state examination in dentistry. His active full-time activity as managing medical director of the medical facilities in Münster ended in 1993.

Fritz Kemper's scientific work is determined by his work in the field of environmental toxicology , in particular its human aspects. He is one of the pioneers in this field, whose conceptual and scientific development he significantly influences and promotes.
