Mambury Njie

Mambury Njie (born June 27, 1962 ) is a diplomat and politician from Gambia who was Foreign Minister in 2012 .

Life

Njie joined the diplomatic service and served as ambassador to the Republic of China between 1997 and 2001, as well as to the Philippines . He later served as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 2007 to 2009, as well as Secretary General and Head of Public Service in the President's Office. For his services he was awarded the Order of the Republic of The Gambia .

On July 21, 2010, President Yahya Jammeh appointed him to succeed Yusupha Kah as Minister of Economic Planning and Industrial Development in his government. As part of a cabinet reshuffle, he took over the post of finance minister in 2011 and, in a further cabinet reshuffle, on April 16, 2012, the post of foreign minister from Mamadou Tangara . He held this ministerial office until December 1, 2012 and was then replaced by Susan Waffa-Ogoo , the previous Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York City .

With a larger Cabinet reshuffle on June 29, 2018 Mambury Njie was the cabinet of Adama Barrow called and as Minister of Finance and Economy ( English Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs ) appointed.
