Manfred Bornemann

Manfred Bornemann (born May 28, 1933 in Ilfeld , † December 15, 2012 in Hamburg ) was a German geologist and non-fiction author .

Life

Bornemann from Ilfeld attended high school in Nordhausen and studied geology and mineralogy in Berlin from 1952 . At the age of 22 he left the GDR and went to the Rhineland. In the following years he worked in the Rhineland, the Ruhr area and Munich . In 1960 he became permanent resident in Hamburg, where he published several publications on the Harz Mountains and regional railway history. He also married and had 4 children.

After his death he was buried in the Volksdorf cemetery. His estate and collections are now in the archive of the city of Nordhausen.
