Manfred Botzenhart

Manfred Botzenhart (born September 28, 1934 in Berlin , † February 28, 2007 in Havixbeck ) was a German historian .

Life

Botzenhart, a son of the historian Erich Botzenhart , studied history , ancient history and archeology in Freiburg and Münster . He became a research assistant to Kurt von Raumer , with whom he wrote his doctoral thesis on Klemens Wenzel Lothar von Metternich . In 1966 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1974 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the emergence of parliamentarism in Vormärz and during the German Revolution of 1848/49 . In 1975 he was appointed to the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster , where he taught as a professor for modern history until his retirement in 1997 . From 1993 to 1997 he was dean of the history department and from 1995 history / philosophy.

In 1995, Botzenhart was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . In 2003 membership was converted into a corresponding one.

Michael Epkenhans is one of his students .
