Manfred Dietel
Manfred Dietel (born September 10, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German pathologist .
Career
Manfred Dietel was born in Hamburg as the son of the gynecologist Hanns Dietel and his wife Magda.
Dietel studied human medicine in Hamburg between 1968 and 1974. After the medical state examination in 1975 he became a medical assistant at the Altona General Hospital and at the Institute for Pathology at the University Hospital Eppendorf. In 1976 Dietel received his license to practice medicine and became a research assistant at the Institute for Pathology at the University Hospital Eppendorf. There he received his doctorate in 1977.
In 1983 Dietel received a C3 professorship and became a senior physician at the University of Hamburg , in 1989 he became director of the Institute for Pathology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. In 1993 he was appointed director of the Institute for Pathology at the Charité , Humboldt University , Berlin. In 1997 he became a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Medical Association , in 2001 medical director and chairman of the board of directors of the Charité.
Dietel is co-editor of Harrison's standard work on internal medicine .
