Rudolf Virchow Medal
The Rudolf Virchow Medal is the highest award of the German Society for Pathology (DGP). It is awarded to scientists “who have made a special contribution to the development of pathology”. The prize has been awarded every two years since 1981. It is named after Rudolf Virchow , who was the first president of the German Pathological Society after it was founded in 1897.
The Medical Faculty of the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg also awards a Rudolf Virchow Medal .
The Rudolf Virchow Prize was a state award from the German Democratic Republic .
