Manfred Hilberger (born January 19, 1971 in Marburg ) is a German rock musician , book author , lyricist , photographer , illustrator and music producer .

Life

Manfred Hilberger received about two years of piano lessons at the age of nine , before learning how to use the drums on his older brother “Ebi” 's drums at the age of eleven . A few years later he was briefly instructed in playing the saxophone by his older sister Doris and learned the most important guitar chords .

In elementary school he wrote children's novel stories , painted and drew little comic books . At the age of twelve he wrote his first lyrics and when he was 15, the local newspaper ( Oberhessische Presse ) regularly published his comic strips with the title character "Mick Drum". At the same time he became a member of the state youth orchestra of the Hessian Gymnastics Association as a drummer. At the age of 17 he switched to the national big band of the Deutscher Turnerbund, in which he worked for six years alongside his siblings as one of the drummers and percussionists .

Hilberger moved to Mühlheim am Main at the age of 20 , where he was also married from 1997 to 2003. Today he lives in his old home again. He mostly spends his free time on creative projects, including his own photo studio and recording studio.

Musical career

Band projects

After some school band experiences, in which Manfred Hilberger was also active as a singer for the first time, he founded the German rock band Dr. Stage where he acted as front man , lyricist and band manager for ten years . With Dr. Stage Hilberger completed countless live performances, produced CD recordings and celebrated first successes through television and radio appearances as well as a cultural award ceremony. The band broke up in 1998. Here the musical paths of the two Hilberger brothers parted.

In the newly formed combo flursn ?, which like Dr. Stage only performed his own German-language compositions, the singer also acted as a drummer from 1999 onwards. Since the band split up in 2001, Hilberger could only be seen live in smaller guest appearances until he was the Dr. Stage follow-up band OnyxOrange, with which he is still active today.

Solo projects

Since 1997 Manfred Hilberger has concentrated more and more on his musical solo activities. Since then, he has been producing a new long-play CD almost every year . In 2009 he even released three albums in just nine months. His CDs contain exclusively German-language rock and pop songs, which, apart from a few cover versions, were written and composed by himself. Hilberger also produces and mixes all of his recordings himself and plays almost all of the instruments and programming himself.

In addition to the long-playing albums, he regularly publishes promo releases of individual songs, for which video clips are then also produced. In total, Hilberger has already set or recorded well over 450 pieces of music.
