Manfred Karremann (*  1961 ) is a German author and journalist .

Life

Manfred Karremann studied social pedagogy in Stuttgart and worked at the youth welfare office there before he became a journalist. As a child he had already dealt with questions of animal welfare . Since 1989 he has reported in numerous works - in reports, books and documentaries - on the practice of animal transport . In 2005 he researched the trade in Chinese dog and cat skins , and in 2013 he researched the dangerous working conditions, including those of children, in the toxic leather tanneries  in Bangladesh . In doing so, he takes a compassionate attitude and, if possible, also helps the animals and people on site. Karremann's documentaries were shown on ZDF , ARD , Sat.1 and Stern TV on RTL as well as on foreign channels ( BBC , NBC , CNN ).

Karremann works with several different animal welfare organizations. He is the founder of the non-profit animal welfare organization Animal Network eV , which goes back to a group that he gathered around himself in his youth. Animal Network is now a network of around 200 people.

Another topic that Manfred Karremann turned to is child abuse . He processed his extensive and not harmless research in the pedophile scene in three reports for the series 37 Grad on ZDF (2003/2004), in contributions for the star and in the book It happens am hellicht Tag , which was published in 2007.

In addition to his journalistic activities, Karremann is a consultant for the criminal police special training of the Federal Criminal Police Office .

Manfred Karremann became an animal keeper as a sideline because of his commitment to animals. Out of compassion he has freed and taken in over 170 animals over the years. He also says that it has become more difficult to get his topics on TV because too often the focus is on entertainment.
