Manfred Moser

Manfred Moser (born December 14, 1956 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician ( SPÖ ). Moser was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1987 to 2015 and its 3rd President from 1996.

education and profession

Manfred Moser was born as the son of Rudolf Moser , Member of the State Parliament . He attended elementary school in Pöttsching and the BRG in Wiener Neustadt. After graduating from high school in 1975, Moser studied law at the University of Vienna . He graduated in 1980 with the academic degree Dr. jur. from. Moser worked from 1980 to 1982 as a consultant for vocational training and youth protection at the Burgenland Chamber of Labor and then completed his court year from 1982 to 1983. He then worked from 1983 to 1986 as a paralegal and became an independent lawyer on June 1, 1986. From 1987 to 1990 Moser also worked as the state party secretary of the SPÖ Burgenland, at the beginning of 1995 he moved his law firm from Neunkirchen to Pöttsching.

politics

Moser was regional chairman of the Socialist Youth Burgenland from 1979 to 1984. He was elected deputy local party leader of the SPÖ Pöttsching in 1981 and was deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Mattersburg district from 1985 to 1995 . In May 1995 he finally took over the office of SPÖ district party chairman. In addition, Moser was regional party chairman of the SPÖ Burgenland between 1998 and 2000 and from 2000 deputy SPÖ federal party chairman as well as a member of the SPÖ federal party executive. Furthermore, from 1983 he held the function of district education chairman, from 1984 he was state education chairman of the SPÖ.

Moser represented the SPÖ in the state parliament since October 30, 1991. He was elected 3rd President of the State Parliament on October 10, 1996 and was regarded as the successor to Governor Karl Stix and the future hope of the Federal SPÖ. In the course of the affair surrounding the Burgenland bank , however, Moser had to forego higher offices. He resigned from his position as regional party chairman after it became known that he had been good friends with the General Director of Bank Burgenland, who had been imprisoned in 2000, and had represented him as legal counsel. Moser also worked for Bank Burgenland for many years.

Moser was area spokesman for business and deputy club chairman of the SPÖ state parliament club.

Private

Moser is married and has two daughters.
