Manfred Paul Gwinner (born June 24, 1926 in Stuttgart ; † August 26, 1991 in St. Moritz ) was a German geologist who dealt in particular with the regional geology of Baden-Württemberg (Swabian Alb).

Gwinner studied at the University of Stuttgart , where he received his doctorate from Ostendorf in 1951. In 1961 he completed his habilitation in Stuttgart (The Geology of the White Jura of the Alb plateau). In 1974 he became a professor at the University of Stuttgart as the successor to the late Hans Georg Wunderlich . In 1989 he retired.

Gwinner wrote a textbook on the regional geology of Baden-Württemberg (with his colleague from Stuttgart Otto Franz Geyer (1924-2002), first published in 1964) and the geology of the Alps (1971) as well as geological guides on the Swabian Alb. One focus of his work was the fine stratigraphy of the shell limestone in Swabia.

He was chairman of the Upper Rhine Geological Association .
