Manfred Richter (born January 29, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German motorboat racing driver .

Life

Manfred Richter was born in the eastern part of Berlin. He started racing motocross at the age of 18 . Shortly before the Berlin Wall was built , he went west and found a new job in Düsseldorf . Here he began to drive auto rallies .

A work colleague took him to a motorboat race in 1966. Richter was enthusiastic about this sport and bought the boat and engine from his work colleague. In early 1967 he won his first two races in the B-Stock class in Traben-Trarbach and Heilbronn . Water sports remained his hobby, even if he started his own business with a motorcycle shop in Cologne . In 1980 his greatest success was the world championship.
