Manfred Schubert (process engineer)

Manfred Schubert (born March 30, 1930 in Reichenstein , Lower Silesia , † August 7, 1987 in Berlin ) was Professor of Process Engineering in Dresden, President of the Chamber of Technology and Member of the People's Chamber of the GDR.

Life

The son of a worker, after retraining to become a locksmith, studied process engineering at the TH Dresden from 1949 to 1955 . After working for several years at the Sondershausen potash plant , Schubert returned to the TH Dresden in 1960, received his doctorate in 1963 and qualified as a professor in 1967.

From 1969 professor and holder of the chair for process engineering at the TH Dresden, Schubert's specialty was the development and application of process engineering in environmental protection. From 1974 until his death he was President of the Chamber of Technology , in which position he was succeeded by Dagmar Hülsenberg .

politics

He had been a member of the SED since 1966 and from 1967 until his death in 1987 a member of the SED faction of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Awards

From 1979 Schubert was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and from 1981 a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences . In 1972 and 1980 he received the National Prize of the GDR and in 1980 the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
