Manfred Stein

Manfred Stein (born October 4, 1947 , † August 1979 in Humpolec ) was a successful motocross driver in the GDR .

The trained body fitter began his sporting career as a member of the German People's Police in the MC Dynamo Erfurt Süd as an all-terrain driver on an MZ . In 1969 he was GDR champion in the class up to 75 cm³. He later switched to motocross and was the first GDR driver to score a World Championship point at the first World Championship run in Italy in 1971. In 1974 he won his first GDR championship title.

On the way to a race in Bulgaria, he had a fatal accident in a traffic accident near Humpolec ( CSSR ). Stein was married and had a son.
