Manfred Walther

Manfred Walther (born September 24, 1948 in Parchim ) is a German lawyer and former politician ( CDU ). In 1990 he was State Secretary and the last acting Minister of Justice in the GDR .

Life

After completing his vocational training with a high school diploma, Walther worked as an electrical mechanic in East Berlin and later studied law in Halle (Saale) until 1974 . He then worked as a lawyer in administration and economics. At the beginning of the fall of the Wall in the GDR, Walther was a lawyer in Lübben (Spreewald) .

In 1968 Walther joined the CDU, where he was a member of several district boards. In the de Maizière government , he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice from May 30, 1990, and Acting Minister of Justice from August 16, 1990 to October 3, 1990. Then he sat from 1990 to 1994, elected via the state list, in the state parliament of Brandenburg , where he was deputy parliamentary group chairman.

In February 2012 it was announced that Walther was listed as " IM Freddy" at the MfS from 1980 to 1982/83 .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he settled in Berlin as a partner in a law firm in Krefeld as a lawyer and notary . The notarial office ended when the legal age limit of 70 years was reached. Walther was co-editor of the magazine Neue Justiz . Walther is married and has a daughter.
