Manfred Walz (born September 1, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Walz played with Borussia Dortmund in the 1983/84 season in the Bundesliga . He made his debut on the 8th matchday when he was substituted on for Bernd Storck by coach Uli Maslo in the second half in a 7-0 away defeat at Fortuna Düsseldorf . Under Maslo he completed three more games. After moving to the coaching bench to Hans-Dieterippenhauer , in the meantime Helmut Witte had led the training, Walz completed his last Bundesliga game. After turbulent weeks at Borussia, coach number four, Horst Franz , who did not use Walz, took over. For the new season he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FC Nürnberg . For the club he only played once in the league. After a player uprising, he received his termination without notice. He later played for SpVgg Weiden , with whom he made promotion to the Bayern League under coach Aki Schmidt .
