Manganese (III) fluoride is a chemical compound of manganese from the group of fluorides .
Extraction and presentation
Manganese (III) fluoride can be obtained by reacting manganese (II) iodide or manganese (II) fluoride with fluorine .
It can be produced by fluorinating manganese.
properties
Manganese (III) fluoride is a ruby red salt that is hydrolyzed by water. It is thermally resistant up to 600 ° C. It has a monoclinic pseudorhombohedral crystal structure with the space group C 2 / c (space group no. 15) , which is made up of elongated MnF 6 octahedra. The lattice parameters are a = 8.904 ± 0.003 Å ; b = 5.037 ± 0.002 Å; c = 13.448 ± 0.005 Å; β = 92.74 ± 0.04 °.
use
Manganese (III) fluoride is used as a fluorinating agent.
