The Mangosuthu University of Technology (English Mangosuthu University of Technology ), short MUT is a technical university in Umlazi in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal . MUT was founded in 1979 by Mangosuthu Buthelezi as Mangosuthu Technikon and received university status in 2007.

The MUT is headed by a Vice Chancellor and a principal; the management also includes two vice principals. The chancellor has representative and symbolic tasks. The management is responsible to the university council .
The university consists of three faculties :
- Faculty of Administrative Sciences
- Faculty of Engineering
- Faculty of Humanities
The faculties are divided into departments .
