The University of Venda ( English : University of Venda ), short Univen , is a state comprehensive university - University in Thohoyandou in the Limpopo Province in South Africa . It was founded in 1982 in what was then Homeland Venda , and since 1995 the academic focus has been on natural sciences and technology . In 2002 it was converted to a comprehensive university.

Kgalema Motlanthe is Chancellor of the University and performs representative and symbolic tasks. The University is headed by a Vice Chancellor, the management also includes two Deputy Vice Chancellors and an auditor. The management is responsible to the University Council, which sets the guidelines and is responsible for financial planning and academic affairs.
The university is divided into eight schools :

- Jurisprudence
- Math and science
- pedagogy
- Environmental science
- Health sciences
- Humanities and Social Sciences .
The faculties are divided into departments .
