The Vaal University of Technology (English Vaal University of Technology ), short VUT , is a technical university in Vanderbijlpark in the South African province of Gauteng . VUT was founded in 1966 as the College of Advanced Technical Education and started its studies with 189 students and 15 teachers. In 1979 it was renamed Vaal Triangle Technikon , at the time about 3,000 students were enrolled and 137 lecturers were employed. It has had its current name since 2004.

The MUT is headed by a Vice Chancellor and a principal, the management also includes three Deputy Vice Chancellors. The chancellor has representative and symbolic tasks. The management is responsible to the university council .
The university consists of four faculties , which are located on four campus areas:
- Faculty of Applied Science and Computer Science
- Faculty of Administrative Sciences
- Faculty of Engineering and Technology
- Faculty of Humanities .
