Manika Batra ( hindi मनिका बत्रा, born June 15, 1995 in New Delhi ) is an Indian table tennis player .

Career

Batra first appeared internationally in 2011, when she won the silver medal at the Chile Open in the U21 class. Further appearances did not follow until spring 2014 because it was hardly used internationally by her association. So she reached the quarter-finals in the individual at the Asian Games and had to bow to Ding Ning , at the Commonwealth Games the same placement followed, this time she failed to Lie Jie . She was allowed to take part in the same tournament in 2015 and won three medals, namely bronze in singles, silver with the team and in doubles.

As a result, she improved in the ITTF world rankings and became the best Indian table tennis player. In 2016 she took part in the Asian Games, where the Indian won three gold medals, again in a team, singles and doubles. As a result, she qualified for participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . However, she could not achieve much success as she lost to Katarzyna Grzybowska in the first round .

In 2018 Batra was allowed to participate in the Commonwealth Games again, where she won gold with the team. The Indian team surprisingly clearly beat the Singaporean women who were seeded. She beat Feng Tianwei and Zhu Yihan 3-1 each.

She also took part with the team at the World Cup in Halmstad , where they were eliminated in the group stage.
