Surname

There are a variety of spellings of the gender name: Manincordi, Manicordi, Manincor (Man-in-cor ≈ hand on heart), Manichor, Manicor, Manikor.

Often additions were added to these forms of names that indicate the local origin: von Casez, von Casetz, zu Cassez and Freyegg, zu Freieck and Ehrenhausen, etc.

history

Hyronimus von Manincor von Casetz was the secret advice of the regent of the Austrian foreland Archduke Maximilian and received on December 10, 1599 the confirmation of the noble elevation of the family, which took place on May 20, 1586. In 1601 and 1609, he was enfeoffed with shares in the manor over the Alsatian villages Brunstatt (1601) and Morschweiler (1609). After the Breisgau fiefdoms of the Schnewlin von Kranzenau had returned to the Habsburgs after their extinction in the male line, they enfeoffed the Manikor with half the villages of Bötzingen , Oberschaffhausen and Buchenbach . In 1608, Hyronimus also acquired an estate in St. Josef am Kalterer See ( Manincor residence ), which is still managed as a winery today.

On October 11, 1673, Emperor Leopold raised the Manikor to the rank of baron. This line became extinct in 1792.
