Manilal Gandhi

Manilal Mohandas Gandhi (born October 28, 1892 in Rajkot , India , † April 5, 1956 in Phoenix , South Africa ) was the second son of Mohandas Gandhi and, like his father, was active in the independence movement in India .

Life

He was the editor of a weekly newspaper from 1917 for nearly four decades. Manilal Gandhi was active with his father in the independence movement, which is why he was imprisoned several times by the British colonial government. In 1927 Manilal married Gandhi Sushila Mashruwala, with whom he had two daughters, Sita (* 1928) and Ela (* 1940), and a son, Arun (* 1934). Arun and Ela are also politically active. Manilal Gandhi died in Phoenix, a suburb of Durban, South Africa .
