The Mannheim Mozart Orchestra was founded in 2003 by its conductor Thomas Fey in view of the Mozart anniversary in 2006 . After it had already recorded two CDs with Mozart's symphonies and horn concertos, it made its concert debut on Mozart's 250th birthday on January 27, 2006 in the Mozart Hall of the Mannheim Rose Garden as part of a great Mozart gala .

The Mannheim Mozart Orchestra caused a sensation with the CD released in spring 2008 with world premiere recordings of overtures and ballet music by Antonio Salieri , for which the composer and Salieri researcher Timo Jouko Herrmann created scores and orchestral parts from Salieri's autographs. At the beginning of 2010, experts welcomed the second Salieri CD with overtures and incidental music no less euphorically. The orchestra specializes in the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the composers of the Mannheim School .
