Manon Pfrunder

Manon Pfrunder (* 1988 ) is a Swiss actress and theater director . She achieved international fame through her role in the feature film The Swallow by the Syrian- Kurdish director Mano Khalil .

Life

Pfrunder grew up in Schafisheim in Aargau and graduated from Engelberg Abbey School. In the 2007/08 season she completed a year of practical experience at the Zurich Schauspielhaus under the theater director Annette Raffalt and finally studied acting at the European Film Actor School in Zurich from 2008 to 2011 . At that time she was already gaining her first experience as a director and staged the comedy “2 nach Orff” by Marcus Everding at the Zurich “Meyer's Theater” .

Manon Pfrunder then worked at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art in Berlin, at Heimathafen Neukölln and at the Volksbühne in Berlin , where she worked as a guest assistant director with Frank Castorf and Sebastian Klink , among others . From 2016 to 2019 she worked at the Schauspielhaus Zürich as an assistant director. However, she also worked here as a director. His own directorial work during this time included the plays "Abendlicht" based on a story by Stephan Hermlin (2017/18 season) and "The Traveler" by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz in the following season .

In addition to her theater work, Manon Pfrunder has also been working as a film actress since 2013. In 2016 she shot the feature film "The Swallow" with the Syrian-Kurdish director Mano Khalil, which in the same year was nominated for the opening film of the Solothurn Film Festival and for the "Prix de Soleure". In the ultimately multiple award-winning work, which was also nominated for the Bern Film Prize, Pfrunder embodied Miri for the first time in the lead role in a feature film, which also made her internationally known.
