Manuel De Zan (born January 16, 1989 in Belluno ) is an Italian grass skier . He starts for the Sci Club Ponte nelle Alpi and has been a member of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) since 2006 .
Career
De Zan has been taking part in international grass ski races since 2006. In June he drove his first FIS races , in July he started at the Junior World Championship in Horní Lhota and achieved 14th place in the Super-G as the only result. In August and September he was able to score points in all World Cup races of the 2006 season , which put him in 25th place overall. His best race result was twelfth place in the slalom from Sattel . In the 2007 season, De Zan drove a total of five times under the fastest 15 and also made it into the top 10 for the first time with sixth place in the first slalom by Sattel. In the overall World Cup he reached tenth place - his best result so far. At the Junior World Championships in August 2007 he finished sixth in the super combined and seventh in the giant slalom and in the super G. A month later he also took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time in Olešnice v Orlických horách in the Czech Republic, finishing tenth in the slalom and super combined as well as 15th in the super-G.
In the 2008 World Cup season , De Zan made it into the top 10 twice: In June he finished eighth in the super combination of Rettenbach and in September he achieved his best result so far with fifth place in the super combination of Forni di Sopra a world cup race. But since these were his only points gains this season, he fell back to 18th place in the overall standings. The Italian achieved good results at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Rieden, Switzerland . He won the silver medal in giant slalom, super-G and super-combined. Only in slalom was he disqualified after a goal error in the first round. De Zan showed slightly worse results during the 2009 season than in previous years . In the World Cup he fell back to 33rd place overall with four top 15 results, at the Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota his best results were seventh in slalom and eighth in super combined. At the 2009 World Cup , he was not among the top ten in any competition. His best results were 14th place in the super combined and 17th place in the slalom. In the 2010 and 2011 seasons De Zan did not take part in any competitions, only in 2012 did he contest three FIS races in Tambre again .
