Manuel Gierlinger (born September 12, 1981 in Wels ) is an Austrian handball player .

Career

Born in Welser, he began playing handball in 1991 in the youth team of HC Linz AG , for which the outside player played in various youth leagues and later in the handball league Austria . After the 2002/2003 season, he followed his then coach Zoltan Cordas to TV Suhr . There, after a long injury, his contract was not renewed at the end of the 2004/2005 season and he moved back to Austria to ULZ Schwaz with which he was Austrian Cup winner in the 2010/2011 season . Since the cooperation between ULZ Schwaz and HIT Innsbruck , he has been active for the HLA team of Handball Tirol . Gierlinger ended his active career in 2014.

For the 2016/17 season , Gierlinger took over the post of head coach at HC Linz AG . In its debut season, he led the team into the Final Four of the cup competition for the first time since 2006/07 .
