Manuel Lösel (born July 27, 1965 in Wiesbaden ) is a German educator. In the Bouffier III cabinet he is State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Culture .

Life and education / job

Manuel Lösel graduated from high school in 1984 at the Wiesbaden Orange School . He then completed a three-year training as a social security clerk and from 1987 to 1989 alternative service in the Eichberg Psychiatric Clinic in Eltville . He started his academic career by studying for a Magister Artium at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . From 1989 to 1994 he studied music pedagogy, musicology and educational science there and completed teaching courses for elementary, secondary and secondary schools as well as grammar schools with the subjects of music and Catholic religion at the same time as there and at the Kassel University . After teaching at the Philippinum grammar school in Weilburg , he worked from 1996 to 2003 as a senior lecturer at the Anne Frank School in Linden and as a lecturer in the department of social and cultural sciences at the University of Gießen, where he worked with a musicological panel study on the assessment of singers' voices by high school students in the ninth grade. In the 2002/2003 school year he worked in the state education authority for the Gießen district and the Vogelsberg district , before he was active as the deputy headmaster and then as the headmaster at the Landgraf-Ludwigs-Gymnasium in Gießen from the 2003/2004 school year .

Manuel Lösel is married and has two children.

In 2009 Manuel Lösel moved to the Hessian State Chancellery as head of the department for cultural affairs . In this position he worked until 2012, after which he was office manager at the Hessian Minister for Federal Affairs , Michael Boddenberg . In the Bouffier II and III cabinets, he has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture since January 18, 2014. At the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs he is one of the two chairs of the Commission for Teacher Education and the Commission for European and International Affairs (EuKiA).

By virtue of his office, Manuel Lösel is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for International Educational Research. In addition, he is a member of the board of trustees of the “Jugend debattiert” foundation.
