María Graciela Mendoza ( María Graciela Mendoza Barrios; born March 23, 1963 in Ixtapan del Oro , México ) is a former Mexican walker .

Athletic career

In 1986 she won silver in the 10,000 m walking at the Central America and Caribbean Games . In the following year, she came 16th at the Indoor World Championships in Indianapolis in 1987 in 3000 m walking and 27th at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 10 km walking.

A silver medal over 10,000 m at the Ibero-American Championships in 1988 was followed by victories in the same discipline at the Athletics Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1989 and at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1990.

In 1991 she won the Pan American Games in Havana over 10,000 m and was sixth over 10 km at the World Cup in Tokyo .

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​she was disqualified over 10 km.

In 1995 she defended her title at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata and finished 19th at the World Championships in Gothenburg over 10 km.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, she came in 18th place over 10 km.

In 1997 she won over 10,000 m at the Athletics Central America and Caribbean Championships and was eliminated from the preliminary round at the World Championships in Athens . At the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1998, she won her second title over 10,000 m. In 1999 she won the Pan American Games in Winnipeg in 20 km walking and was disqualified in the same discipline at the World Championships in Seville . Also at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 she suffered disqualification over 20 km.

At the World Cup in Helsinki in 2005 , she finished 33rd over 20 km.
