Mara Minjoli

Mara Minjoli (born February 22, 1987 in Bochum ) is a German singer and songwriter with Cameroonian roots who sings pop jazz , soul and gospel .

Live and act

Minjoli since 2004 as a soloist and lecturer in Gospel Project Ruhr operates. In 2007 she began studying jazz at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Romy Camerun . In 2009 she founded her band, with which she released the album Picture in 2013 . Then she lived and studied in Amsterdam and worked with the collaborative quintet Metromara, which she founded .

Minjoli performed with various formations, mainly in Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil. She appears with the ErdQuintett, which consists of Michael Erdmenger on saxophone, Matthias Bergmann , Martin Theurer , Caspar van Meel on double bass and Bernd Gremm on drums. In 2018 she also presented her version of the album Os Afro Sambas by Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes with guitarist João Luís as well as André Cayres, Thomas Hufschmidt and Bodek Janke .

In 2010 Minjoli and her band won the Folkwang Prize in the jazz category.
